Emergency Medical Technician
EMS Education is available throughout Chemung, Schuyler and Steuben counties with multiple training locations.
The EMT training course includes a mixture of practical and lecture-based instruction. Students will be required to demonstrate competence in practical skills as well as on written examinations.

All students enrolled in an EMT-Original class are required to obtain ten (10) clinical patient contacts. This time may be accomplished at affiliate ride sites and/or hospitals.
Students who successfully complete all course requirements will take the NYS EMT-Basic Certification exam.
Required Pre-requisites: Students must provide verification of a physical and vaccinations.
Per NYS Division of EMS Policy 24-03, all students enrolled in NYS EMS original and refresher programs must achieve minimum competencies in their courses by meeting the following objectives:
- Completion of IS-100.a
- Completion of IS-700.a
- Completion of IS-200.a (Recommended for BLS & Required for Paramedic students)
- Completion of AWR-35B
